In 2008 Paul Austin founded Play Marin with a single Marin City basketball team of nine players. For over a decade he juggled running Play Marin alongside other jobs until January 2020, when the newly formed board of directors recognized the organization's impact and growth potential and brought him on full-time as Executive Director.

 

Today, Play Marin serves over 300 Marin children and teenagers annually. Our core mission – diversity and inclusion through play – remains steadfast. We provide equitable access to enriching activities like athletics, adventure programs, and arts, opportunities often out of reach for underinvested communities like Marin City. By dismantling barriers to participation, we create a more diverse peer group for all Marin youth who participate in our programs.
